The New American Dream: Safety, Security and Belonging
We can’t fix what we don’t talk about. America is at a crossroads—but not without hope. It’s time to come together to talk honestly about our overlapping crises of mass violence, homelessness, loneliness, and digital division. Learn how rapid cultural, systemic, and technological change has fueled disconnection and violence—and how we can turn it around. This course creates space to pause, talk, and listen—reminding us that small daily choices like kindness, patience, and connection matter. At the same time, we’ll explore bold, systemic solutions to address the root causes. Together, we can turn division into dialogue and despair into hope.
What We’ll Cover:
- Contributing systemic factors such as deinstitutionalization, fragmentation and a new model of immediate, comprehensive crisis care.
- Cultural factors such as individualism, materialism, and the loss of extended family support.
- Technological factors such as online contagion, cruelty, and overstimulation eroding empathy.
- Embrace a shared moral duty to put politics aside and work together—each in our own way—to restore trust, unity, and hope for the next generation.
Target Audience: General public, educators, business leaders, parents, and anyone seeking to help end division and strengthen community connection.
